General Information about Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

Cosmetic surgical procedures, also known as aesthetic plastic surgery, have become a part of the mainstream of American life. The popularity of cosmetic surgical procedures continues to increase, as people become more comfortable about doing things to enhance how they feel about themselves, or to rid themselves of unwanted deficiencies or deformities. Over the years, we have helped many individuals feel better about themselves with improved self-image. This translates into being happy with themselves, which also has a major impact on how they relate to others.

Our techniques continue to improve, both in effectiveness and safety, as we continue to strive for better outcomes. We have made astounding progress from as recently as the 1970's, when cosmetic surgery was thought to be frivolous and only for the wealthy.

Cosmetic surgery has always had a good safety record. Though there are risks to almost anything we do, for the most part, the risks associated with plastic surgery are small. Cosmetic surgery tends to carry less risk than other types of surgery, because it does not invade the body cavities, such as the chest or abdomen. It is, therefore, more of a technical operation that requires expertise and aesthetic judgment.

As a team, we have great joy in working with cosmetic surgery patients. We are able to share their pre-op fears, their care during the surgery and recovery, and their joy after the surgery. We have become a small momentary part of their lives, and this brings meaning to our own lives.
